Q:Since Superman and Wonder Woman romantic relationship are all over the various entertainment media, I want to know if the announcement of marriage of Superman to Lois Lane had ever recieve this much attention back in the 80's?
To be fair it was impossible for that to happen - in the 90’s -if only because today we have social media and the Internet is everywhere. The other difference is the rise of the Comic Book Movie, which has raised the profile of the source material, and given the whole genre more dollar credibility outside the traditional fanbase.
The Net allows more casual fan interaction. Once upon a time, to interact with DC you had to be committed enough to put pen to paper and mail that letter. Today it’s as easy as tweeting.
Also in the 90’s this event wasn’t a surprise. Comic Book Lois and Clark had been engaged for some time. The story deliberately followed after the marriage in TV series Lois and Clark, also Spiderman was already married to Mary Jane in the Marvel-verse, making this DC plot more or less inevitable.
