Q:I don't want to come off negative or anything. Because I thoroughly enjoy Superman and Wonder Woman together. But I heard Geoff Johns said their relationship will end badly. Any truth to this?
Yes, he did say that and when asked via twitter by this blog, he said "relationships have ups and downs…and ups." This was before we even knew a Superman/ Woman book was coming out. Many naysayers were predicting Clark and Diana would be done during Trinity War. That came and went, they were still together. The detractors then said by the end of Forever Evil. They are still together post Forever Evil. Our guess is as good as yours what Geoff Johns exactly meant. But as we have said before, Clark and Diana will be together so long as they sell and DC have a chance to tell fresh, new stories to evolve the mythos. So keep supporting the book.
So this is for the ask who think we don’t put up enough sexualised, male-model posing images of Clark. I would say we do but here are some again.
Too often some people see these two as asexual. Which they are not. Clark and Diana are gorgeous and sexy.
Anyway, let’s appreciate our Man of Steel.
Q:I love this blog! I love this ship! I have read SMWW and it's fantastic! Equal attention and respect to both characters, love how their worlds come together. Apollo powering up Zod and Faora! EPIC! But I have seen women call it sexist yet they like the WW who is chasing after BM. What? Why?
Why is that indeed. Because it keeps her away from Clark.
Q:speaking as a fan of this blog, could you please try to post an equal amount of sexualised clark pictures as you do diana? it's a little uncomfortable seeing his power pose next her playboy poses so much. (again, nothing against the blog i like everything else you post! :) )
Um we did and we have. If you look back we have a lot of shirtless Clark. With nipples. As the female half of this blog, let me say when I put up pictures I put up what I am comfortable with. A sexy picture or a beautiful body does not faze me, be it male or female. I don’t go counting in my head either how much I put up. I don’t do quotas when it comes to putting up art.
Q:You know these naysayers (a clique of clois shippers) who are trying to sink the Superman/Wonder Woman title might be interested to know Adventures of Superman that feature their ship is going to be cancelled (likely poor sales), the LL one shot did not sell well and their fave Superman Unchained is ending with issue #9. So all this energy they use to pan a book they don't buy yet so ironic which books are affected. Moral: don't wish bad for others, it might just come to you.
We feel for anyone losing a book they love and we never begrudged others having titles with clois. You never see us here ranting at Smallville, Adventures of Superman, Unchained etc on a daily basis. People are free to buy the books they like. .
And yes, we recommend celebrate what you love instead of constantly attacking what others love.
Q:Like stated, issue 7 was a prologue and epilogue. However naysayers continue to say "superman wouldn't deliberately set of a nuclear explosion", And it wasn't addressed showing consequences so it was ok. We have no idea what Charles Soule will do. This nitpicking is ridiculous. Calling it a "fauxmance" and Diana a "tiara wearing god of war" or Clark a "Superdouche" Seriously?
Those who love the book love the book. Those who want to waste their time ranting at a book they don’t buy and calling the characters names etc…they have a lot of time on their hands, methinks.
They sound like they should hang with the ranters who can’t seem to get over the Man of Steel movie.
Q:Why do you think people hate on Superman?
Heroes who are dark and broody or arrogant and sarcastic or psychologically damaged in recent times seem to be the more “cool” ones. Toss in a bit of mary/gary sue ie, they are the best at everything they do, most of the opposite sex go gaga for them and you have an object of wish fulfillment. That’s popular these days.
While heroes who are noble and compassionate and try to do the right thing at times are seen as boring.
It’s quite weird, isn’t it? In real life who do you think we’d want as our heroes and who we would faster trust?
But good story telling is key. Look at some of the characters we all love because of their inherent optimism and nobility…from the characters in the Lord of the Rings to Captain America…the way their stories were told made audiences connect with them.
Superman has suffered with regards to writing in the past and we hope he will have a continued renaissance that will allow modern audiences to see his value. Superheroes are modern day myths and he has to evolve as well to reflect the socio-political times we live in. But he can keep his core aspects ie courage, compassion, kindness, standing up for those who can’t stand up for themselves, etc and be represented as a multi-layered, compelling character.
